MVU provides a planning guide document for Online and Blended Learning. Included in the document is a School District Planning Rubric for Online Learning as well as a Student Readiness Rubric for Online Learning. Very helpful planning resources!

Page 5 -- Defining Dimensions of Online Programs - great chart for understanding models, types, etc.

Strategy - page 7
  • How will you define and assess quality?
    • content recovery vs. credit recovery
  • Who are your key stakeholders and how will you involve them?
  • What policies are in place, need to be changed and added?

Considerations - page 10
  • Will your program be full-time, supplemental or both?
  • From what source will your online content come, build, buy/license or mix?
  • Will your program be fully online or blended; self-paced or cohort based?

Quality Teaching - page 13
  • On what kind of student will be your focus; honors, credit recovery, all?
  • Will your courses be heavily facilitated and what role will the teacher play in the learning process?
  • What kind of professional development is needed for teachers, administrators and support personnel?

Is blended learning:
A. where students come every day are in the classroom, but some of the content is online (moodle) and some of content is direct instruction
or
B. where students come less days a week, as needed, some in person instruction, online learning takes place elsewhere

Does everyone agree what blended learning is? Are we A's or B's
